Maurice Noble
(1910-2001)

BIOGRAPHY

Maurice Noble, like many of the oustanding artists of Southern California, started his career with Maurice Noble Walt Disney. As art director, production designer, and creative sketch artist, his work in the various Hollywood animation studios since 1931 to present day ranged from Snow White and Dumbo to Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who and How the Grinch Stole Christmas -- from Bell Telephone Science Series to The Incredible Mr. Limpet -- and from U.S. Steel feature to the Academy Award winning film, Dot and the Line.

His four and a half Army years were spent on orientation films under the direction of Col. Frank Capra.

After going into semi-retirement from the animation industry, Maurice Noble created an impressive body of serigraph work. Acclaimed as one of the finest master art directors, designers, and layout artists, Maurice Noble's credits include:

    Honored at Disney World in 1983, for contributions to Maurice Noble working on 'Five Senses' from the Bell Telephone Science Series the studio, Maurice Noble was featured in a ceremony at Fantasia Court. A recipient of the Annie Award in 1987, he was recognized by the International Animation Society for his 50 year contribution in the field of animation. He was also awarded the Snow White Apple Award.
